Guo Yan.

What are your overall thoughts about your Course?

I'm very impressed with the course, I really think I made the right decision to come to Bradford and do the MSc in Computing. The lecturers are very helpful and friendly, I feel that I'm a valued customer of the University - not just a student.

What's been your favourite module?

I really liked the Web Technologies module, I love surfing around the Internet, so I want to fully understand the technology behind it. The Web Technologies module taught me everything about the technology behind the Internet, the programming involved, how to create dynamic web pages and how web servers work.

What did you do for your final year project?

My final year project involved creating a new website for the Sports Centre at the University. At the moment the Sports Centre website is static and difficult to update. My project brief is to create a platform which will allow the Sports Centre staff to update the website without needing any knowledge of how to build a web page. It's a very interesting project and I think I made the correct decision in deciding to do it.

What do you do in your spare time?

Well, first of all, the University has a very nice Sports Centre, where my friends and I spend quite a lot of time. You can play all kinds of sports like basketball, football and badminton, there's also a really nice swimming pool and a really well equipped gym (the Nautilus Suite) which has all kinds of training equipment!

Also, personally, I think the University surroundings are very nice, I like to walk around the University - sometimes my friends and I will just have a barbecue outside on the grass!

What your opinion of the staff and facilities at Bradford?

As I said before, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The School of Informatics has excellent facilities for Postgraduate Students. Postgraduate students have their own dedicated teaching areas and computer laboratories. I understand that a new Postgraduate Teaching Centre will be opening soon, which will make the facilities even better!
