The course is structured in terms of Core and Option modules. The course covers computer science and networking topics as well as new modules on the design and implementation of mobile protocols and applications taking into account the limitations imposed by terminal technologies and mobility. You will have opportunity to enhance personal transferable skills principally through participation in project work. Students will be encouraged to attend a research seminar series based on the latest research work in the field, and in particular, recent research carried out by the Mobile Computing and Networking Research Group and the Performance Modelling and Engineering Research Group, Dept. of Computing, School of Informatics.
The work of the first semester is designed to establish a firm basis of knowledge and understanding on which students from differing academic backgrounds and undergraduate experience can build. The second semester continues this process whilst enabling you to choose an option which reflects a specialist interest in the field. The final semester allows you the opportunity to develop, through sustained major project work, advanced knowledge and understanding of mobile computing.
