The project titles below are an indication of the types of project our students undertake during the final year of the course.
  • Demonstration of TCP/IP Protocols. Use of graphical interface tools to provide animation of LAN protocols.

  • An Investigation into the Use of Sensation in Interactive Computer Systems and its Possible Use to Assist Teaching of Year 10 Science. The use of haptics in simulation of junior school science.

  • Java Mail Evaluation and Demonstration. The full software development life-cycle and its documentation is analysed.

  • Distributed Disk Catalogue. Enhancing the performance of systems that solve the concurrency and integrity of distributed catalogues.

  • An Investigation into the use of Sensation in Interactive Computer Systems. Use of haptics (touch sense feedback) in medicine, teaching, disability and the web to supplement or replace audio-visual feedback.

  • File Synchroniser. Investigation of novel architectures for file synchronisation.

  • Computer Department Placement Centre. Software tool for managing multidimensional problems.

  • A Web-Based Solution to Literate Programming. Literate programming is a paradigm proposed by Knuth to support the concurrent writing and documentation of programs that humans can understand.

  • Mobile Programming. An investigation of the features required by a language and an execution environment to support mobile programming.

  • The Development of a Prototype Information System using INGRES for a Number of Different Scenarios.
