The Course is comprised of a diet of core and option modules. All the programmes located entirely in the Department share a common first stage. The second stage of this course is also comprised entirely of core modules. The final stage consists of two core modules and a range of options from within the Department's provision that allow students to pursue interests in greater depth.

This structure allows students to identify and encompass within the first two stages of the programme principal themes of computer science such as Computer Architecture, Software Development, Human Computer Interaction, Networks, Databases & Artificial Intelligence. It allows students to contextualise their knowledge and skills through Group Project work and modules specifically designed to deal with key professional issues, so that in the final stage they are enabled to make informed choices about their study patterns and undertake individual Projects in a responsible and professional manner.
