LEARNING OUTCOMES
Learning outcomes indicate what you should know and understand, and be able to do on successful completion of the course. These have been developed with reference to the Computing subject benchmarks. As such, you will develop the following:
  • You will gain Knowledge and Understanding in the following fields. Computation and Computer Programming; computer Architecture and Networks; Computerised Information Transfer Systems; Databases, Systems Administration, Programming Languages and Web Server Programming.

  • You will develop Discipline Skills in Architecture and System Software, Structured Programming, System Administration using Linux and Microsoft operating systems will also add to your skills. In addition to these, you will gain database and SQL programming skills and the ability to address systems security issues, making you invaluable to any project team.

  • You will gain enhancement in your Personal Transferable Skills in critical thinking; numerical techniques; independent learning and research; team working; IT and communication skills; creative and problem based resolution; life-long learning skills, and personal management.

An optional placement year, normally taken between Stages Two and Three, will enable you to extend and apply your learning in an appropriate industrial context, and gain first-hand experience of how your skills might be applied in the workplace.
