This course is designed to produce graduates who can make effective use of modern networks such as the Internet. The course introduces a strong element of programming and design, and can be oriented towards the skills required for effective commercial use of networks.
It extends the scope of the Computer Science course to consider the underlying theory and practical applications of major computer networks. Core computing modules are supplemented by expanded discussion of data communications, with second-year modules on the business and commercial use of the Internet, and final-year modules in intelligent network agents.
It is possible to do the course either as a three-year course, or as a four-year sandwich course which includes an industry placement.
