COURSE STRUCTURE

Internet Computing is comprised of a diet of core and option modules. All the programmes located entirely in the Department share a common first stage. The second stage of this course is also comprised entirely of core modules. The final stage consists of five core modules and one option choice from within the Department's provision that allows students to pursue a particular interest in greater depth.

Core computer science modules are supplemented by expanded discussion of data communications, with a second-stage module on the business use of the Internet, and final-stage modules of Intelligent Network Agents, Concurrent and Distributed Systems, and Deploying Web Technologies.

The structure allows students to contextualise their knowledge and skills through Group Project work and modules specifically designed to deal with key professional issues, so that in the final stage they are enabled to make informed choices about their study patterns and undertake individual Projects in a responsible and professional manner.
