Each year, or stage, of a three-year honours (Hons) course comprises two semesters with 60 credits studied in each—including 10-credit modules taught in one semester, 20-credit ones offered in one semester, or 20-credit modules taught across two semesters, and or 30-credit ones offered across two semesters—for a total of 360 credits.

Note that you have the option to undertake a year of industrial placement between stages 2 and 3. Computing has an Industrial Placement Tutor in contact with a large number of outside organizations who assists in placing students in industry. Successful completion of the industrial placement year qualifies you for the award of the Diploma of Industrial Studies, and the experience itself is looked upon favourably by prospective employers.

Although the University does not recruit directly to Ordinary (Ord) degrees, this route is available to students for whom a less intense course of study is appropriate. Ordinary degrees requires students to pass 100 credits in stage 1, and 80 credits in stages 2 and 3, respectively; or a total of 260 credits.
