The BCS is the leading UK professional body for computing and information systems, setting quality standards, developing skills and informing and influencing the national agenda for IT. The Department is proud to announce that it has recently had its undergraduate degree programmes re-accredited by the BCS. The inspection, which lasted a day, included discussions with degree programme managers, checking quality management, programme content and relevance to industry and interviews with senior managers and current students.

Established in 1957, the British Computer Society (BCS) is the leading body for those working in IT. They have over 50,000 members in more than 100 countries and are the qualifying body for Chartered IT Professionals (CITP).

The BCS was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1984. Its objects are to promote the study and practice of computing and to advance knowledge of and education in IT for the benefit of the public. BCS is also a registered charity.

Through our specific Professionalism in IT programme, BCS is leading and building IT professionalism.

Free BCS Membership for Computing Students!

The University of Bradford recognises the importance of students' membership of the British Computer Society. The BCS Professional membership fee for those students who successfully complete their BCS accredited degree, would be funded by Bradford University. Thus giving Graduates the opportunity to receive BCS post nominal's (MBCS) at this year’s graduation ceremony.
