The aims of the Water Software Systems (WSS) research group are to initiate,
conduct and promote high quality applied research; to develop symbiotic
links with industry; and to commercially exploit useful research outcomes
in order to augment further research and educational activities. Founded
in 1980, the group attracts a mixture of income from industry and research
organisations.
Based at the University of Exeter (School of Engineering) the Centre develops and applies innovative computing methods, techniques and advanced information technology to problems of water resource systems (WRS) planning and management. Current research interest include Evolutionary Computing techniques (including Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealing and Tabu Search), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their applications to engineering problems.
